Friday, February 11, 2005 It's like Spring cleaning here. I am getting ready to get poetry back on track here. I am about ready to be a real poet again and bring the postcard project out of retirement. It's a sad farewell to those poet blogs that are calling it quits. But for those of you about to rock the blog world, I salute you. I also ask that you keep Strong Bad's advice for web design close to your heart. I am not quite ready yet to abandon the blog. If I had no blog, how could I tell you that I really enjoyed seeing Jordan Davis read yesterday afternoon, and meeting James Meetze. (Mr. Davis was only here for the reading, but Mr. Meetze, it seems, is moving to SD. So finally I will have someone with whom to discuss poetry.) It really was wonderful to see poets again. Oh. And Sarah Bynum was there at the reading as well. Fancy that. She is one of the nicest people in the world, so it was of course great to run into her. I haven't seen her since Iowa. I hope she moves out here to SD. **Update** Sarah read on Friday and it was fantastic. If you have a chance to see Sarah read, or if you are looking for a novel to read to yourself, I would highly recommend you check out Madeleine is Sleeping. Unfortunately I had a pressing appointment that caused me to skip out as the Q&A began, otherwise I would have loved to hear people's reactions to the book. And that brings me to a little favor I want to ask you all. See, I almost didn't even know about Jordan's reading yesterday. I caught a glimpse of a calendar with the event on it just the day before. So, if you are coming to SD to give a reading, or even LA, please tell me. |
